We will be affected by it just like the rest of the world.

Obesity is a real problem amongst our children. Fast food outlets are abound and since we cannot do much about that, we should start educating children from a young age. Start by teaching canteen vendors how to cook healthily. NO FRIED FOOD on ANY days (the kids are getting enough outside school...) I am a parent and I do not wish to see my child eating nuggets for lunch, or worse, left-over nuggets from the previous day & refried for sale again ....

Eating nuggets is something that a child cannot control. Suggest a deal with him/her and reduce the junk food intake? Or let him do something he wishes if he/she does not eat junk food?

I am a child, and this is a deal I would certainly take. :)

Yes, nuggets are hot-favourite in school. Who wouldn't want a nugget? :D
But I do understand your concern.

However, I think not selling fried food is not a very good idea. Some kids might buy the healthier food, but I guess there will be this bunch of kids who will decide not to eat any of the "gross" food, and skip to have their fried food at the end of school.
There should be a variety of food in the canteen, so one does not get bored with it. If it's steamed, stewed food everyday, I bet kids will cry out for mercy.

The thing is, don't stop the sale of fried food. Instead, engage the students in exercise. Burn off the excess calories!
