Are you confident that Singapore can weather this global financial meltdown?
Yes! I am confident we can weather it well and perform better than the rest of the world
We may be affected but I believe we can manage it well
I don't know
We will be affected by it just like the rest of the world.
We will be badly hit by it and perform worst than the rest.

you have startled me into an effective suggestion! ie use Force! i dont mean violence.

The Bus/MRT Operators must redesign those seats meant for the needy. Cannot continuewith the gentle and lazy method - as in the existing practice of simply sticking a silly sticker on the backs of the same type of seats.

i meant - a graduated range of computered REQUESTS - first polite and subtle, till the final unforgiving shock punishment - the seat simply drops/folds down without warning!

Attack the offender's pride, esteem, image or even his comfort !
Install and USE SOUND SENSORS triggled when a reserved seat can sense a person who is more in need of that seat. Depending on the length of time the "offender" delay or totally resist giving up his seat. If possible, similar type to our handphones :

1) alarm mode (initially - increasingly loud beeps,

2) vibrating mode - his bottom is rattled, if he pretends to sleep and wont stand
up),

3) shaming mode - It begin to sing, eg. blaring "Are you also pregnant ?" Are you
more handicap than ..? Are you ... so on?. alluding he has less right to this
seat.

4) FINAL RESORT - the seat slap just drop down so that it cannot support anyone who
wants to seat on it!.

Sounds like a joke to amuse myself?
Worth trying it out !

This is a start. Circulate to all to help. Discuss and polish this idea till it
works and get it adopted.

Good Luck Singapore !!

I must say the idea's wild and cool. :D
But the thing is, what if the needy is sitting on it? Can the system differentiate between a non-needy person and a needy person?
