Yes! I am confident we can weather it well and perform better than the rest of the world
We may be affected but I believe we can manage it well
I don't know
We will be affected by it just like the rest of the world.

Allow students in school to video tape lessons. This would help students if they need to review it at home as they can replay certain parts they feel the teacher is going too fast, without slowing down the rest of the class.

hmms sounds like the webcasts we have in uni. but this might result in students no wanting to go to sch as they can review the lessons at their own pace anytime comfortably at home. and also additional stress to the teachers teaching..haas..

There is no right or wrong answers in this idea, and I must say at the end of it we must have good understanding to work as one ... ie. school-children-parent. Lets see from another angle and put ourselves as the teacher and consider these ... 1. Will students pay attention in class when they think tape recording can be relied on? 2. Will you as a teacher, want to be scrutinised? 3. There are already thousand and one complaints that principal faced ... add more complaints .. precious time will be diverted away from being productive - right? 4. What can done to help inattentive (or weaker) students with their work?

Sounds like a good idea, but we are assuming all students have equal access to the internet from home. Having such a system and relying on it will discriminate against disadvantaged children with no or limited internet access at home. Besides, videotaping each lesson in class will pose overwhelming logistical problems... Imagine how many video cams we will need? Who's going to transfer each lesson onto the web? Who's going to maintain that server?

Doing so will turn every school into a mini-Mediacorp!

Students will then post these lessons on YouTube and tell the whole world to laugh at their goofy teacher. Would teachers take that?

The teachers' current administrative burden is taxing enough. Let's not add to it and leave them as much time and energy to do what they were supposed to do - teach!

I do not think this is a good idea. If this carries on, the teachers will be out of job. Every student in Singapore will be relying on the videos instead of them.
Also, handphones are not allowed in some schools. And video-recording/camera function is strictly forbidden in some schools that allow handphones. How can we ensure that the students will not take some obscene video clip and post it online? It is a risk too great to take.
